Assistant Managers Selah and Jacob share how teamwork, friendships, and small moments make the club feel like family.
Meet Selah and Jacob
From Every Day Moments to Lasting Connections

Meet Selah Swaney and Jacob Boguslawski, both Assistant Managers at MVP Rockford. Both a year into employment with MVP, they bring energy, enthusiasm, and unique talents each day to help create a welcoming environment. To them, the job is more than folding towels or helping the club run smoothly. It’s an opportunity to connect with leaders, coworkers, and members who make MVP a special place.
While the work isn’t always glamorous, Selah values the relationships she has built with her team. “Working alongside people of such different ages and backgrounds is a privilege,” she said. “Everyone contributes in their own way, and our leadership is full of powerful, intelligent and kind women such as Kristine, Chelie, Leandra, and Chris. I look up to all of them as role models and learn something new every day.”
Jacob said it’s the small moments that build community in the workplace. “We all root for each other and have built a real camaraderie,” he said. “Even little things, like seeing Ben Furey clock in at the crack of dawn with me or getting a homemade latte from Mary, make this job feel special.”
Beyond their team, both Selah and Jacob use their personal interests to connect with members and form lasting friendships. “For me, what starts as a quick ‘good morning’ often turns into a friendship, sometimes even a lifting partnership,” Jacob said. He pointed to his friendship with Mike, a longtime member at MVP, as an example. “He’s older than me, but we both have a background in auto detailing. You wouldn’t think a 24-year-old and a 60-year-old would have much in common, but that’s the beauty of getting to know people and hearing their stories.”
Selah has her own way of creating connections through her love of coffee. She’s a regular at the free coffee hour, always joining the same circle of women to swap stories or invite them to her growing book club. “It became a little routine of ours, and I started calling them the ‘coffee queens,’” Selah said, laughing. “One day, they even surprised me with a basket of amazing charcuterie goods. They truly are queens, inside and outside the realm of coffee.”
It’s the blend of friendship, support, and teamwork that makes MVP Sports Clubs truly stand out to them both. “Working in member services puts you in direct contact with everyone at the club,” Selah said. “It’s so rewarding to become part of members’ routines and build relationships as I watch them show up for themselves and grow as individuals.”
Jacob agreed. “The best part of being here is that everyone who walks through the door is focused on being better than they were yesterday. It’s contagious.”
