Meet Nicole Sedore, a Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard, and Lifeguard Instructor Trainer at MVP Sportsplex. Nicole’s passion for aquatics started as a swimmer. She competed from elementary school through high school, giving her an appreciation for both aquatic exercise and lifeguarding.

“I swam year-round for both club and school teams. I had always noticed the lifeguard when swimming and thought that would be a fun job to have since I was around water all the time.”

Years later, her love for aquatics didn’t fade. She began working at MVP in 2018 and now spends most of her time in the aquatics department teaching swim lessons for all ages, lifeguarding, leading lifeguard classes, and occasionally subbing for Aqua Fit or Backsplash.

“I really enjoy getting to know others and helping them enjoy the aquatics environment and all its benefits,” she said.

Nicole’s favorite part of her job is helping members of all ages gain confidence in the water through swimming lessons. Whether it’s jumping in for the very first time or learning to swim laps to support their exercise routine, she loves helping others grow and feel safe in the pool.

“I love teaching swim lessons and really look forward to helping members overcome their fears and anxieties when it comes to swimming and being around the water,” she said. “Its so rewarding to help someone learn to become comfortable getting in the water, swimming laps, or any other water-related activity.”

Beyond the teaching, it's the community of members and team members that makes the job something to look forward to every day.

“My Aquatics teammates are fabulous, and I have so many fun memories with members!” she said.

One of her favorite memories was “flocking” the pool with the 8am Aqua Fit group to surprise their instructor on her birthday.

“The members helped me blow up 100 inflatable flamingoes and put them in the first two lanes of the pool,” she explained. “We had to plan in advance and keep it a secret. Everyone helped me clean up in time for class to start as well. It was classic teamwork and made her day!”

Nicole is excited to keep teaching, building confidence, and promoting safety and community around the pool.

“Swim lessons are an amazing way to build confidence in the water. I always look forward to training future generations on how to keep themselves and others safe while in the water.” She said.
